AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY Canberra Reptile Sanctuary
Canberra is the capital city of the Australian Capital Territory, or ACT. As such, it is the starting point of many travellers’ excursions through Australia and is easily accessible. The Canberra Reptile Sanctuary is a 15-minute drive from this city’s centre and is the intriguing home of a wide array of reptile species.
The Canberra Reptile Sanctuary is a non-profit organisation that was established in 1998 to educate, conserve and research, all with the common goal of sustaining the reptiles that inhabit Australia and other areas of the world. While emphasis is placed on the safety and sustainability of the animals, great efforts have been made to ensure that the visitors to the sanctuary have a fun, interactive and interesting experience. It is run by volunteers and associated members with a tertiary education based on scientific fields.
Visitors can look forward to expansions to the sanctuary, as increased animals are part of the short-term future
The venomous Australian Rough Scaled Snake plans. These include rare and endangered species, guaranteed to delight and impress even the most sceptical of spectators.
The education room is a facility in which visitors to the sanctuary may watch videos, peruse various displays and learn more about the elusive reptiles that occupy the land. There is also a gift shop, from where visitors can purchase memorabilia and curios to remind them of their fascinating encounter. In addition, this shop stocks supplies for the care and upkeep of pet reptiles.
Every animal that is displayed at the Canberra Reptile Sanctuary has its own specific Research, Conservation and / or Education aspect. This ensures that all displays are as relevant and succinct as possible, and not merely a group of animals on show.
It is with passion and commitment that the Canberra Reptile Sanctuary has been established and it is with the same enthusiasm that visitors are invited to share in this worthy cause.
