AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY- Canberra
Canberra is the capital city for the whole of Australia. It has a population of almost 350 000 people, making it the eighth largest city on the continent. At a glance, this city presents itself as a uniformly structured, quiet and somewhat laid back destination. However, its community is a dynamic one and its presence on the global map is increasingly significant in terms of history, culture, commerce and tourism.
It was chosen as Australia’s capital in 1908, when a decision between Sydney and Melbourne could not be reached. Upon being designed, Canberra’s designers followed a popular ‘garden city’ approach, creating vast areas of natural vegetation within the city. Many of the natural wonders of Australia can be

The many natural sights and sounds are one of Canberra’s primary attractions. These include numerous lakes, parks, hills and reserves. These beautiful surrounds make for the ideal places to swim, hike, walk and cycle, all the while taking in the beauty of Australia’s Capital Territory. However, Canberra is also home to several cultural hotspots, including the Cultural Museum, Parliament House, the National Gallery of Australia, the National Library of Australia (required to hold at least one copy of every book ever published in Australia) and the War Memorial.
Being only 280km from Sydney and 660km from Melbourne, Canberra is centrally situated and conveniently accessible.
Canberra places a high importance on maintaining close ties with communities and cities all over the world. This is done with the aim of broadening potentials and prospects on a mutually beneficial basis. Nara in Japan and Beijing in China are known as sister-cities of Canberra, while Dili in Timor Leste and Hangzhou in China are termed friendship-cities.
