AUSTRALIAN CAPITAL TERRITORY - Morton National Park
Morton National Park measures an impressive 162,400 hectares or 1757 square kilometres and has been in operation in its entirety since 1967. Parts of the park were declared as national reserves in the 1930’s, though, making it a significant part of the Australian landscape and culture for over 75 years. It is only 170km south-west of Sydney in the Australian Capital Territory (ACT).
Morton National Park is characterised by its beautiful gorges, valleys, cliffs and waterfalls. These are further enhanced by dense rainforests and sandstone plateaus as well as the jagged edges of the metamorphic rocks. This eclectic mix of textures and colours gives the park a mysterious air of ancient significance. The main part of the park is situated on the sandstone plateau, which tilts slightly at the 
Morton National Park, Fitzroy Canyon, NSW, Australia north-east. The park extends between Bundanoon and Ulladulla. Some of the Budawang National Park crosses over the Morton National Park’s borders.
Fitzroy Falls is the park’s most popular attraction. This magnificent waterfall has an entire visitor centre on site, equipped with an education room, café and souvenir shop. The Fitzroy Falls also boast stunning picnic areas, ideal for a romantic lunch or a family outing. These falls tumble over the edge of the plateau into the gullies of rainforests below in thunderous splendour as spectators are humbled by their sheer size and power.
Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy camping at Morton National Park. Camp sites are at Fitzroy Falls as well as at Gambells Rest. Hot water and barbecue facilities are available. The trails are ideal for walking or hiking and the many lookout points promise spectacular views and beautiful memories. Popular lookouts include George Boyd, Tianjara, Badgerys and Longpoint.
Pigeon House Mountain and the Little Forest Plateau promise unforgettable views of the ACT shoreline on one side and the wilderness areas of Budawang and Ettrema on the other.
With such natural wealth permeating every aspect of the Morton National Park, it is no wonder that visitors flock from all corners of the globe to experience the ACT’s true beauty.
