QUEENSLAND - Noosa

Noosa is one of Australia’s best known holiday destinations, and is situated along the Sunshine Coast in Queensland. The area of Noosa officially stretches between Peregian Beach and Noosaville, and includes Sunrise Beach, Sunshine Beach and Noosa Heads.

The extensive coastal strip is home to most of the holiday accommodation facilities of Noosa. However, there are several village communities further inland, such as Little Cove, Noosa Junction and Hastings Street, that also boast an array of spots for visitors to overnight for long- or short-term trips. These, as well as several tourist attractions are located only 15 to 20 minutes from the coast.

The Noosa River is a popular favourite amongst tourists who prefer to explore the surrounds and relax in style on a rented houseboat as the many lakes and rivers are ideal for such excursions.

Noosa is acclaimed for its prioritising of environmental sustainability and conservation. With these goals in mind, most of the tourist sights and activities are centred on such conservation initiatives and education. This gives visitors the unique opportunity of learning about and participating in such a worthy cause. The natural abundance of fauna and flora are fascinating sights for every member of the family, while shopping centres and heritage sites ensure that tourists are entertained for the entire duration of their stay. Walking trails criss-cross the area, making for the ideal getaway for visitors needing peace, relaxation and a one-on-one interaction with the world around them.

One of the features of Noosa is Fraser Island, which is an official World Heritage Site, 124km long. Frasier Island boasts many beaches that are perfect for swimming, surfing or simply relaxing on. It is also particularly wealthy in terms of natural attractions, and ecologically-minded visitors will delight in the tours and 4x4 trails. Dense rainforests lie alongside salt pans and sand dunes, creating an eclectic range of landscapes and the animals that inhabit these.

Within the heart of the Noosa River Everglades is Cooloola National Park, where the local flora and fauna species are showcased within their natural environment.

Noosa is a destination of variation and choice, making for the optimal holiday spot for couples, families or honeymooners.
