VICTORIA

Victoria, named after Queen Victoria, is home to approximately 5 million people from varying backgrounds, languages, races and religions. This spectrum is complemented by the diverse landscape and weather patterns, creating a destination that is truly a unique mosaic of colours, sights, textures, sounds, faces and flavours. The biodiversity alone is remarkable, with a combination of forests, deserts, oceans and mountains.

In ancient times, Victoria was occupied by Aborigine tribes. However, the Europeans colonised numerous areas of Australia in the 18th century. When they discovered gold in 1851, Victoria became the epicentre of commerce and industry.

production. The many restaurants in the state bear testimony to the excellent quality of Australian cuisine and offer visitors a range of choices. Savouring local flavours of world-class standards is the ideal way to finish off an exciting day spent exploring the natural and historical wonders of Victoria.

Although Victoria is, by geographical measurements, the smallest of the Australian states, it offers much in the way of tourist attractions. Daylesford is known for its mineral waters with the power to heal the soul and rejuvenate the spirit while Logans Beach is the ideal spot from which to watch the Southern Right whales making their annual migration. The Gippsland Lakes are the largest inland lake system on the continent and provide plenty of breath-taking views and memorable vistas.

Melbourne is the capital of Victoria and is home to about 3 quarters of the population of approximately 5 million people. This city is home to many of the Victoria tourist attractions and is amply equipped to handle tourist needs and satisfy their desires. Some well-known attractions include the Melbourne Zoo, Crown Casino and the Eureka Tower.

Victoria has proven to be most popular as both a tourist destination and as the home of many cultures and races. It is with this diversity that it welcomes travellers from around the world.
